Il mitico R-type. Fenomenale!

Way too hard for its sub-par controls. Please develop an option to make it a bit easier and to keep your power-ups after dying like in Super R-Type for the SNES. Take a look at the mobile version of Final Fight as a reference on how to properly adapt this for the iPhone/iPad.

Cool game, but touch controls are a bit off, you cant do subtle moves. I thought it would be easier on an ipad, than on my phone, but there is more ground to cover with your thumb, so its worse. Also the tiny little bullets hit me every time. As though they were heat seaking.

This is one of them.

I recommend the smaller screen so your thumb has room to maneuver without getting in the way of the ship. This game is just as hard as it was when I played it on my turbo grafix 16

Just as I remember it as a young man first starting out on my own. A blast from the past, a cool way to relax after a hard day at work. Love this game!!!

Over the years I have looked for this game... Finally found it here for ipad and bought it instantly! I thought I would be bored with it after a few hours.. But No... I play it a lot and its been a few. Chances are your like me if you found this game in that you played it in the Arcade. And if you played it in the arcade Im sure you spent Quite A Bit more than it costs here so just buy it.. You wont be disappointed considering that.

This game is just as i remember it, awesome and hard! Ive had it for about a month and i cant even pass the first stage. I love it though, hey maybe you should consider bringing Gradius to iOS.

I played this in the arcade and the older version for iPhone. This version plays too fast. Please fix!

An all time classic, finally returns to the iPad in full HD, and beautiful frame rates. Preferred for those who dont mind spending days at a time trying to beat a single level, and not preferred for those who arent determined to beat each insanely difficult stage. Super neat power-ups, super cool ship attachments, super hard enemies. Each stage is set in a entirely different world, so you wont be getting bored of them (unless, of coarse, your stuck there because you dont have the skill). IF YOU WANT A REAL CHALLENGE, go for R-Type, youll be sitting there learning from mistake after mistake after mistake! Test yourself and have fun while doing it! - GAMESTAK

The controller just does not work. It is not responsive enough.

Reminds me of some of my favorite 90s arcade experiences growing up

Great classic game, great graphics but needs better controls. Game is touchy using finger to control the ship and you cant see what sneaks up behind u when using your finger.

Touch controls are disaster for shmups. RType II is wonderful. Time to get the classic one up to snuff guys

This is a wonderful adaptation of a classic shooter! The continuous fire mode means that you can focus more on strafing and dodging. This may be my favorite incarnation of this game!

It is a very good game, but The volume does not work! No sound or anything, it just does not work!

In an apparently undocumented feature, R-TYPE is iOS 7 game controller-compatible just like its R-TYPE II counterpart. I have been playing it with my SteelSeries Stratus and it has worked flawlessly.

What can I say? My favorite arcade is now on my iPad and it is glorious in its authenticity. Still as frustratingly difficult as its ever been and I cant keep the smile off my face. Thanks DotEmu.
